Overview

The School of Life Science and Health Engineering is the newly established school of Jiangnan University and will focus on construction during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The College is committed to training talents in the new era who face the forefront of international life and health disciplines and serve the strategy of "Healthy China" and the development of national life and health industry. Relying on the two national first-class disciplines of "Light Industry Technology and Engineering" and "Food Science and Engineering", the school gathers outstanding talents and high-quality resources of life science, pharmacy, medicine and engineering inside and outside the school, improves the discipline layout, and builds a high-level interdisciplinary talent training base and a platform for industry-university-research integration research and innovation.

There are 54 full-time teachers in the college, including 18 professors, 27 associate professors and 9 lecturers. There are 13 doctoral supervisors and 44 master supervisors; The proportion of teachers with a doctor's degree reached 98%, and the proportion of teachers with overseas study and work or cross-professional background reached more than 80%. The college has 2 national talents and 30 provincial and ministerial talents. The school also employs well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad and experts with rich experience in well-known enterprises (Astrazeneca, Pharming Biology, etc.) as visiting professors and business professors.

In the past five years, the college has undertaken more than 50 national projects such as national key research and development projects, National Science and technology major projects, National Natural Science Foundation, Chinese Academy of Sciences major strategic pilot science and technology projects, and more than 100 projects of ministries and provincial-level and enterprises. He has won more than 20 provincial and ministerial awards and industry association awards such as the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, the Ministry of Education Technology Invention Award, the Jiangsu Science and Technology Award, and the Chinese Medical Association Science and Technology Progress Award. 5 clinical approvals approved by SFDA (Phase I and Phase II clinical applications have been completed). Published over 300 SCI papers in Nature Catalysis, Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, ACS Nano and other important academic journals at home and abroad. It has applied for 314 national invention patents and 48 international invention patents, and authorized 187 national invention patents and 15 international invention patents.

The College adheres to educational innovation, cultivates high-quality innovative talents with both morality and ability, and cultivates students' practical and innovative ability by guiding students to participate in various extracurricular scientific and technological activities. In the past 5 years, students have won 35 national competition awards, 30 provincial and ministerial competition awards, including 1 gold medal in the International Genetic Engineering Machine Design Competition (iGEM), 1 bronze award in the National Internet + College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 5 first prizes and 3 second prizes in the National College Students Life Science Competition. In the past five years, the graduation rate of students is 100%, the degree rate is 96%, the employment rate is 98%, and the postgraduate entrance examination rate ranks the top of the university.

At present, the college has more than 500 undergraduate students and more than 300 graduate students. A life and health professional training system integrating undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education has been established. It has high-quality teaching resources such as the virtual simulation experiment project platform of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of pilot majors of the "Excellent Engineer Program" of the Ministry of Education and the first batch of first-class undergraduate majors of the "Double Million Plan", and has passed the international engineering education certification. The school has extensive international academic exchanges, and has established joint training programs with Auburn University in the United States and National University of Ireland, and has established close cooperation and exchange relations with many high-level universities in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Germany and other countries.
