Scientific research results

The school has strong scientific and technological creativity and has achieved rich research results in scientific research. In the past five years, the school has presided over and participated in the Ministry of Science and Technology’s national key research and development plans, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s major new drug creation science and technology projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China general projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund, the Jiangsu Provincial Natural Science Foundation and other ministerial and provincial scientific research projects. The school obtained more than 100-million-yuan funding on scientific research in the past five years, including more than 38-million-yuan in vertical funding and more than 67-million-yuan in horizontal funding. The school published 470 SCI papers in the past five years. It has won 6 ministerial and provincial science and technology awards including the Outstanding Achievement Award for Scientific Research in Schools and Universities and the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award, 1 municipal science and technology award, and 15 industry association science and technology awards. Applied for 420 domestic invention patents and 46 international invention patents. Obtained 280 authorized domestic invention patents and 20 international invention patents.

Social Contributions

The scientific research of the school is based on the purpose of "cultivating industry backbones and serving the national economy and people's livelihood", emphasizing the application of basic research results in the development of new drugs, actively serving the local economy, and promoting the development of pharmaceutical companies.

Basic research has been carried out around major health issues such as tumors, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and endocrine diseases, and important original innovative results have been achieved in the study of tumor drug resistance mechanisms, which has improved my country's international status in research in this field.

Give full play to the school's advantages in the field of biotechnology, highlight the characteristics of biopharmaceuticals, and vigorously develop biotech drugs and biopesticides. It took the lead in developing a series of albumin fusion recombinant drugs with independent intellectual property rights and the first domestic biopesticide of Scleractinia sclerotium, and achieved a number of major breakthroughs.

Jointly establish a government-industry-university-research alliance with local governments and pharmaceutical companies, and organize the Wuxi International Pharmaceutical Industry Forum every year. Assisted companies in developing new drugs and various medical devices; supplemented and improved national standards for nasal sprays and inhaled aerosols, and guided the formulation of industry standards for a series of medical collagen dressings and plastic artificial bones. Strengthening international cooperation and promoting strong international pharmaceutical companies to obtain FDA approval for marketing new drugs have effectively improved my country's drug research and development level.

Using the principles of modern pharmacy and bioengineering technology, we excavated the material basis of the functional activity of traditional fermented vinegar in my country, clarified the microbiological basis and technological processes related to its synthesis, and laid a scientific foundation for inheriting and improving traditional fermentation techniques and promoting excellent traditional culture. Foundation, and won the first prize of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Award.
